Tag Archives: Halloween
2 Nov

Did everyone have a great Halloween?   We sure did!  Ours was completely opposite of how we normally spend it.  We typically start planning our costumes WAY in advance, and then custom make everything.  This time we just made T a costume, then spent the night eating way to much sugar and making up random things we believe T is saying.  In this one she was playing the role of a commander in an army of mermaids (and mermen):

Onward Mer-Army

We also spent way to much time putting mer in front of words so they could match her costume.  Merfolk, mermen, merarmy, mercandy, we were obviously on a sugar high.  Who knew one could have so much fun just staying in during Halloween?  We did stop in at work  so I could show off T and laugh at the costumes my co-workers were wearing.  It was well worth it, especially since my boss took a picture of us (B really needs to step up his documenting of me and baby, all of her pictures are with him).

I want to hear about your Halloweens! What did you dress up as and what did you do?  You get extra points if it involves crazy costumes and/or haunted houses.

We’ve finally put the baby down long enough to add the BraggAbout Protection series to our Etsy Shop.  We are having entirely to much fun writing these descriptions.

I’m a ZombShell

15 Oct

At this actual moment, while my 1 week old is taking a nap, I am much more Zomb and much less Shell than I was 6 months ago.  But here is a preview of my feature in ZombShells 2013 Zombie Calendar.  My fiance sculpted the heart AND was still painting it in the car as we drove down for this shoot.  I’d say he did a pretty spectacular job.  It is always amazing to me watching him create something from a block of clay.  If you need any custom props or sculptures you can send us a private message on the BraggAbout Creations Facebook or Etsy page

Thankful Thursday: WE GOT FEATURED

12 Oct

I am so thankful to announce that BraggAbout Creations will be featured in the ZombShells 2013 Calendar scheduled to come out at the end of this month.  I’ll post a picture of me as a Zombie as soon as I get it.  I have the most AMAZING fiance that is able to make such cool stuff like crazy eye balls.  Which reminds me tomorrow I should probably add some of his clay work to the shop.

By the way the shoot for this calendar was how we announced our pregnancy.  Can you believe I was 3 months pregnant in this photo?!  During the shoot B kept telling me to “suck the baby in.”  That was such a fun time being able to FINALLY say that we were pregnant after having two losses.  I am SO THANKFUL that our little bundle is here now.  I can’t stop staring at her.

Sew Swap with Little Willow Tree

8 Oct

Part of the reason I wanted to do the Sew Swap was to expand my sewing ability.  I have really been wanting to put some sewn items up on BraggAbout Creations, so this couldn’t have come at a more perfect time.  My swap buddy was a mom who liked to do a lot of outdoor activities, which I translated to: I have limited time and like to get out of the house often.  I thought about what I would need, and I decided to make a little bag that could keep credit cards, ID, and a little cash separated from the mass of chaos that diaper bags often turn into.  This is what I came up with:

I’m actually going to make myself one because I’m already feeling ridiculous and throwing my much to large purse into the bag that will become the diaper bag.  That makes the trips to the grocery store VERY awkward.  I also think these will make great stocking stuffers, so I’ve posted it on Etsy.

I got a really great bag from my Swap Buddy.  It is absolutely perfect.  It will probably be our emergency diaper kit that stays in the car for those moments when we forget things or when we underestimate the mess that babies can create.  I loved having an experienced mama that can help this new mama out.

Thank you Little Willow Tree for hosting such a fantastic event!  I’m dying for the next one.  Not only did I get to meet 2 great people, I also got to expand my skills and finally dust off the sewing machine.  She has now been used very frequently and I can’t wait to post all of the other exciting things that I have been working on.  Make sure to Like us on our new facebook page for sneak peaks and coupon codes.

One more little update: Baby T is here!  She arrived at about 3 am yesterday after just 15 minutes of pushing.  We had a wonderful all natural birth at a birthing center, and are now at home resting (and knitting).  Birthing story to come.

Thankful Thursday

4 Oct

Thursday is becoming my favorite day of the week.  It’s a time of reflection. A time to stop stressing out that the laundry hasn’t been put up or our boxes aren’t all unpacked.  A time to look at my fiance and smile because he contributes so greatly to this wonderful life I live.

Baby Update: Prodromal labor is still happening, and yet she is still baking.  Because of this I am still not working, which is an unmarked territory to me.  Relaxation has NEVER been my forte.  When I was in grade school my parents had me in tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, cheerleading, and gymnastics at the same time.  That’s right 6 days a week of after school activities (and all A’s on the report card).  During high school my activity list may have gotten smaller, but the time required to participate only increased.  At 15 I was a full time high school student, full time college student, and cheer captain.  My day started at 6 am and my last class ended at 10 pm with no breaks in between.  I have a disease called over-achievement, and obviously baby Tiffany is very aware and is working on the cure as we speak.  Since I’ve been unable to go to work I have been able to come up with new ideas for BraggAbout Creations, work on new patterns, get reacquainted with my sewing machine, exchange foot rubs with my fiance (don’t tell anyone but I’m also teaching him how to sew).  It has been lovely.  Granted, I should probably be unpacking more but whats a few boxes scattered around my house?  The important stuff is out and working.  This experience has been a welcome break from the world of engineers, deadlines, scientific journals, and schedules.  (Side note: I’ve woken up past noon every day this week)

Note: My fiance broke out the paint brushes and did some fancy work on my nails.

BraggAbout Update:  We now have a facebook page!  I may get around to getting new pictures done, but schedules are for the birds.  I’ve finished knitting a chunky infinity scarf just in time for the fall, and we are planning on making some really amazing new products in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  The most exciting part of all of this is that I’m not just sitting down to create.  I have time now, and while my body may ache, I am not exhausted.  We take evening strolls to the park and discuss our ideas and look around to get INSPIRED.  I was anxious about moving out of downtown.  I mean, what would our lives be without being woken up by the drunken hoards of people walking back home at 2 am?  How would we sleep without sirens at all hours?  More importantly how would we feel when we walked into our yard and could see stars?  Gasp.  This country girl, turned city girl, turned suburban mama could not be more pleased with that decision!  WE HAVE ROOM!  We have the ability to WALK to the park.  We don’t hear our neighbors every time they flush the toilet.  Most importantly our family, our business, and our ideas have room to spread out and grow.  It is what I like to call heaven.

I’m ready to hear about the happenings of the rest of the world.  What are you thankful for?  Does October mean anything special to you or your business?  If you’d like to join me in Thankful Thursdays head on over to Mustache Mama.
